Rob started hang gliding in 1974 while still a high school student in Dundas, Canada. He moved to California in 1979 and did several years volunteering at Andy and Juanita Jackson's Pine Crest Air Park.
Rob was active in the Crestline Soaring Society officers board from 1979 to 2008. Additionally Rob spent an incredible amount of time volunteering to make the landing area and all the club facilities into what they are today. He was tireless in his efforts to help install the original grass lawn in the LZ along with numerous other projects over the years.
Teamed with his wife Dianne they ran High Adventure hang gliding and paragliding school from 1981 through 2019. Over the course of his career Rob logged over 11,150 instructional tandem flights and another 11,000 solo flights.
